It was a live track of where all the cars were on the race course. They used the speed of the cars as they went through the timing and scoring loops to predict where they would be in between the loops. From that the scoring script could show a projection of where the car probably was on the track.

Nurburgring had something like that too last year during the N24. Really nifty thing. And you’re right—Le Mans should have this, though they can one-up and use little drawings of the cars as legends.
